Free Online Courses on China

ReConnect China, a sister Horizon Europe project, offers four free, self-paced online courses (MOOCs). They give a solid introduction to contemporary China:

  • Introduction to Chinese Politics and Society
  • Introduction to EU-China Relations
  • Introduction to Chinese Economy
  • Introduction to Chinese Popular Culture

Each course is worth 3 ECTS, needs no prior knowledge and combines video lectures, podcasts, digital stories and readings. A certificate is available on completion. The courses are mainly for students, but civil servants, journalists, teachers and other professionals are also welcome. They are open on the DigiCampus platform until 18 December 2026.

The courses also reflect the cooperation between ReConnect China and EuroHub4Sino. Professor Shaun Breslin (University of Warwick), EuroHub4Sino research lead, gave the lecture "Mission Impossible: The Chinese Economy in 20 minutes". It looks at the political underpinnings of China's economy and how the Chinese Communist Party steers economic policy towards its goals.
